Knowledge protects animals
Sound knowledge and skills in laboratory animal science and in animal experimental work are key to handling laboratory animals in a way that in in keeping with animal welfare and in the spirit of the 3Rs. This concerns all fields of research using animal experiments.
Replacement
Refers to the replacement of animal experiments with in vitro methods or model organisms other than vertebrates.
Reduction
Refers to the reduction in the number of animals needed through improved techniques and optimization of experimental planning.
Refinement
Includes all measures that lead to avoidance or reduction of constraints and stresses for laboratory animals.
Education, training and continuing professional development
People who work with laboratory animals must be adequately educated and trained and must undergo continuous professional development. To address this need, LAS interactive provides online training based on the requirements of the German Animal Welfare Ordinance.
Course 01 – general
Our Course 01 – general provides basic knowledge in accordance with the Animal Welfare Ordinance (TierSchVersV) for working with laboratory animals. Topics: Animal Welfare Act, ethics, the 3Rs, experimental design, biology, animal husbandry, experimental methods, anaesthesia (and more).(u. a.).
